The Importance of using Out-Of-The-Box Ideas in Web Designing

The everyday things which we hear about the upcoming and ongoing trends in web design are much known now. Hence people have an idea of what to implement in designing these days. Some things are still not much discussed. It’s not about trend, but about how the design would make a difference in the traffic, business, and entity of the website. Therefore some interesting site features are discussed here, which are to make a difference in the way users see overall web design.

Web browser based designs

A lot of web designers rely a lot on codes and scripts to decide the placement of items on the webpage. This is not essential. That’s because the browsers also have great capabilities in displaying web pages in a very creative way. The browsers got a lot advanced with time. Modern day browsers are equipped with a lot of features. These features are not much used as they should be. Simply using the features like box alignment, grid, and flexbox, available in browsers, the designs and layouts and placement of items in a webpage can be done. But instead of using these features, designers emphasize more on the coding and scripting part.

This practice can be changed somewhat to make use of the fantastic features in a browser. If the browser features are well studied, understood, and then used by designers, then better art and creativity can be practiced by web designers. Some features are common in all modern day browsers, and they must be studied by the designers to reduce inclination towards scripts and use more of the features.

Design based on ambiance

This is a new concept which is gradually getting spread among designers. The screen time of people has increased considerably over the last 10 years. 10 years ago, people would not spend so much time staring at a website screen, which now they do. Now many people spend more time staring at a website screen by choice, and many people do it without option. This means both hobby and profession makes one use a website for a longer time, and many hours. That’s why, if the website screen is designed in such a way that the page would change theme and color with the time of the day, or with passing hours, then it would be refreshing for the eyes constantly using the same webpage.

The middle path in designing

digital composite of business graphics with office background

The design must not be painfully prominent and visible all over the page. Again design must not be too subtle that viewers forget if they are viewing a government or .edu site or some interesting stuff. Therefore design must be such that it should be interesting, nice, pleasing for the eyes, and yet not dominant over the content, and help the viewers have a fun time while on the webpage. The design must not be too captivating to fetch focus on to the design elements instead of the real stuff on the page.

Value-based designing

Designing is primarily done aesthetic based. But this is just too common. Aesthetic based designs and such designers are everywhere. Mass production of something you took inspiration from by mere looks is very easy. But a design, that would make you think, and help you take an interest in the subject of focus on the page is one that is a design based on value. Such value-based designs are on the rise. The inclination towards the making of such value-based designs in increasing.

Safer authentication

Many websites demand authentication of their customers. Now the pattern of authentication must change with time because there must not be chances of a data breach. The data breach cases in the recent past triggered lot an of customer resentment around the world. Many people use their Facebook login credentials to log in to many websites and services. This kind of login must be checked for total security. The job of the web designer is to ensure the level of security gets tight in case of such logins. How many fields are getting used and why, and what happens to this huge pool of data are some important things to be handled responsibly.

Design operations

This is a new wave that has emerged in the world of web designing. Design operations have started to change the world of web design a lot. To create good designs, many people of different ages, experiences, come together under one banner to form a team that can work together to make something very innovative and different.

When a team full of diversity is employed in making something nice, then age, gender, and all such elements come together to form a nice operation environment that helps in better design making.

Intense storytelling

The complexity in product making and marketing is getting complex due to the tough market and competition. This has brought the extreme need to invest in storytelling in a more conventional and vivid form. This intense and traditional approach towards storytelling is needed and also much rewarded with great viewer attention. And this makes a big difference too. The better a story injecting design is used, the more captivated would be the audience.

The requirement of great web designs

These are many such important features in web designing which are getting used, and more designers are studying the hardcore changes in designing trends to grab these things. That’s why the entire arena of web designing is going through a huge change. The mass-produced websites which look alike are not the focus here. Where designers are thinking well and using their innovative ideas in designs, only their such progressive ideas are being shown through the made websites. Such innovative and interesting designs are required for a website which you plan to do great marketing with the help of leading digital marketing experts.

Finally

Web designing is an art, upon which depends the success of a website to a good extent. It’s on the design that viewers decide to stay on the site or leave it. Hence good design thoughtfully made always helps.

Here, I would like to note a few recommendations and approaches that I have been using for my clients.

Focus On Business Product/Service & Client While Designing

In designing website, we avoid applying the same design for all the websites. We design with respect to the business and the services.

As soon as the project has been assigned, we should first make a note about the business, its services, plant location, their customers, and their business objectives. This process is important to know your client’s business and their target audience and to understand the business before creating design

Benefits

Personalizing web design to your client:

  • Helps you understand your audience.
  • Helps in creating website layout and architecture.
  • Helps in creating user-friendly web design.
  • Helps in creating effective business marketing strategies.

Keep several other principles in mind.

Create A Mobile Friendly Web Design

Create a mobile-friendly site

According to Techcrunch, the combined traffic from mobile and tablet devices tipped the balance at 51.2 percent, vs. 48.7 percent for desktop access, marking the first time this has happened since StatCounter began tracking stats for internet usage.

This percentage is not going to decline any time now.

So, it is important for a developer to design a mobile friendly responsive website which would be portable for all the devices.

More people prefer shopping online or calling businesses through their mobile phone compared to desktop phones. If you don’t have a responsive website for your business, you are certainly going to lose half of your customers.

1.  Include User-Friendly Navigation

Imagine walking into a supermarket where none of the aisles were labeled and there was no logic to where items were placed. Or imagine a bookstore without sections, or a library without an index. Wouldn’t that be frustrating?

That’s exactly how shoppers feel when they visit an ecommerce store with poor navigation. Online shopping is supposed to be convenient and should save time. If, instead, they’re forced to waste even a few precious minutes figuring out how to navigate your store you’re going to lose them.

Here are some tips to improve your website’s navigation:

  1. Use Search Autosuggest
  2. Use filters
  3. Use drop-downs
  4. Make categories searchable
  5. Duplicate your sub-categories
  6. Use dynamic categories

2.  Include Keyword Research & Analysis

Keyword research is a process of collecting keywords (based on average monthly search and competition) relevant to our business in order to target it in our website.

So how would you do it?

Let’s take an example of a client who wants to sell smart watch in Canada.

To find the right keyword, we can execute the following steps:

 Brainstorming

Dig into the business services and brainstorm few keyword ideas. From this I was able to get few keyword ideas like Smartwatch Canada, best smartwatch, Latest smartwatch, Apple smartwatch, Motorola smart wear, etc.

Wow, that’s great. We just brainstormed 5 keywords in less than a minute. Now, we are good to go for the next step.

Use Tools

Once we have some handful of related keywords, We may use various tools for the further process of keyword research. Some of the Keyword tools I suggest are :

  • Google Suggestions
  • Google Keyword Planner
  • Keyword.io
  • Keyword shitter
  • Keywords everywhere

3.  Design A Meta Setup

Meta setup is a process of setting html meta tags like title, meta description, and heading.

With a list of our researched keywords, we now target every page of our website with few relevant keywords which we want to rank for. Our keywords must add value to the content. We should never do keyword stuffing.

Depending on keywords, we now create title, meta description, and headings of the webpage.

You should use heading tags wisely. H1 tag should only be used once in a web page.

4.  Use Alt Text for Images

Alternative Text or Alt text should be used when using any images in a webpage.

Basically, it is recommended to use secondary keywords for this purpose.

5.  Optimized URL Structure:

URL stands for uniform resource locator and it is literally the address of a website. URL is one of the considering factor of Google ranking Algorithm. So it is the responsibility of a web designer to use an optimized URL for the website.

URL optimization refers to short and descriptive URL.

Optimized url

Since it is an important factor in ranking, let’s focus on some URL best practices. The URL for our webpage:

  • Should contain our keyword phrase
  • Should be no longer than 100 characters.
  • Should be static instead of dynamic.

Good example:- www.amazon.com/clothing/men t-shirts

Bad example:- www.amazon.com/125645564

6.  Setup Google Analytics & Webmaster Tools

Google analytics offers insites

Google analytics is one of the most important tools for measuring the online activities for your business. It helps you track the visitors, their behavior, the time they spent, the page they visit, and all sort of activities they do while on our website.

It is useful in tracking online improvement and success. For example: Google analytics lets me track total users and their country as well as the total conversion of this month. And it’s all possible within few clicks. Isn’t it amazing?

Getting started with Google Analytics is easy, for a really easy to follow guide read Superb Digital’s Guide to Google Analytics.

7. Integrate Social Media In The Website

Social media has grown to be an important tool for digital marketing. Marketers these days use social media websites for promoting and branding their business in many ways.

Social media, if done correctly can even be used as a better customer relation management tool. It is, therefore, an important job of a web designer to integrate social media into a website. The question is how and where to integrate it?

It is recommended to Integrate the social media channels at the header part of your website and you may like to integrate the social channel in your Post which enables user to share it via Social Media.

How to build a better website

How To Build A Better Website

Many of us in business management can easily remember when companies rarely had a website. Those that did had only the most basic of information and no interaction. There was a good reason for this.

The average consumer did not have a home computer until the mid to late 1990’s. They were available, but they were very expensive and not easy to use.

In 2017, it is safe to say almost all of us have at least one home computer and the computer is used for everything from buying groceries to going to college.

In this age of technology, we would be shocked to know a business that did not have a website. To say we would hesitate using that business is not an understatement. Taking into account the how cheap hosting and starting a website with the help of WordPress is, there is really no excuse.

What Your Website Should Do

Your website should be a guaranteed ROI (return on investment). It is the gateway to your business and company. When your website comes up, it swings wide the doors to your products, service, ethics, reputation, and personality.

That all important “first impression” is no longer the receptionist with the bright smile, the salesman stopping by to introduce himself or even the business owner with his extensive experience and moral compass.

The first impression is on a screen that will or will not navigate a client through your world with a personal feel and little human interaction.  There’s tons of great resources out there that you can check out on how to start a blog and making a great impression.

What makes your website a winner?

KPIs tell you how your site is performing

Key Performance Indicators

In order for you to gauge how well your website performs, you must have clear Key Performance Indicators. This goes hand-in-hand with a good computer management team to follow, track, and report the KPIs.

There are many types of KPIs, and the ones you incorporate will depend on the expectations you have of your system. Basic functions measure the number of visitors and return visitors that have logged on to your site, how much time they have spent in each area, and how much money those visits generated for your business. But this is not even the tip of the iceberg. Your website designer will present you with a wealth of information and data that your website can provide to you seamlessly.

Provide excellent website content

Web Pages and Content

Business owners finally understand that every single web page is a home page.

Your website stands in the center of all your inbound marketing effortsEvery page must provide fresh content, interactive applications, audio, video, and visuals. Designing the pages that are bound to boost your result is crucial to achieving you lead generation goals.

Every page must be designed using the latest technology trends to hold the interest of the viewer and to keep them on your site longer. Further, each page should make them want more. This not only makes the consumer more prone to use your business, but they will share the information and draw others to your website.

If you are continually growing and giving information to them, they will come back again and again. This is key to building your brand.

Select a good domain name

Location and Searchability

You can have the best website in the world, but it will do you no good if no one finds it. This is why your geolocation and Google position is critical.

Of course, this process begins with a good website address.

Expert PR firms are quick to ensure the web address is user-friendly, that the home page is written in a geocentric manner, and that the content keyword rich so it secures a good position with the Google search engines.

This is not a one-shot project. Every day people are trying to get their websites on the top pages of the search engines. It is one thing to get there, and another thing to remain there.

Your website is one of your greatest assets, give it the attention it needs and it will serve you well.

Take Advantage of Tech Solutions:

In conclusion, building a website or enhancing your existing one might be a dreadful task for many small business owners. However, with new technology solutions, the task of building a website could be easier than ever.

One website building platform particularly stands out: the Bookmark Website Builder. This tool uses Artificial Intelligence to build your website in minutes and then simply walks you through the process of editing your web pages, content, searchability and design.
